在古代,异地文化的吸收和传播常常把宗教作为一个重要载体来实现。佛教在西藏是一种外来宗教或外来文化,因此外来僧人在吐蕃佛教发展史乃至吐蕃史上占据重要的地位,成为吐蕃时期佛教传播、佛经翻译、佛教本土化的重要力量。文章着重探讨吐蕃统一政权时期外来僧人在佛教传播及佛经翻译方面的贡献以及文化交流方面的作用。

In ancient time,religion was an important vehicle for the cultural absorpion and the cultural dissemination from different places.Buddhism as a foreign religion or foreign culture was imported into Tibet,thus,those foreign monks took very high position on both history of Tibetan Buddhism and even the history of the Tibetan ancient Kingdom;especially,they acted as an important role for Buddhist teaching,translation Tibetan ancient Kingdom localization.This article mainly focuses on the great contribution of those foreign monks;besides it describes the important cultural exchanges between Tibetan ancient Kingdom and its neighboring countries in Tibetan history.
